Commissioned Equine works

All the equine portraits on this page are examples of commissioned pastel pictures. Working from photographs Fen creates the portraits by first sketching the subject onto pastel paper and completing in her favoured medium, soft pastel. This combination gives a soft appearance ideal for horses.

   

"The eyes of any animal are central to their personality and this is where I always start when adding pastel to a sketch. Individual bone structure is also vital to depicting the character. I find this framework in a horse to be so expressive and wonderful to illustrate."
